Skinny Scarves!!! 'Tis the season...
Voila! The variegated skinny scarf -- this one on C from Milan, Italy (knit in Mont Blanc (100% cashmere); colourway, Kate):

Well, technically 'tis the season for scarves, though it's been an unseasonably mild winter in these parts. But that hasn't kept this knitter from the needles and cashmere, no sir! I've been away for a while, as plenty of you have noticed, but there isn't much time to linger online these days between the office and the studio and lots of Axellerushingroundliketheproverbialheadlesschicken.
And still somehow I recently managed to knit something BIG - physically the largest thing I've knit to date, at least as far as I can remember. And on a deadline, too! Of course, it was completed on schedule (read: in the nick of time), with more than one all-nighter with the needles. Now, I've had my share of work/study related all-nighters, typically in front of computers, at libraries, or in conference rooms with stale coffee, biscuits, and paper-cut threatening piles of tiny print, and I can definitively say that all-nighters of knitting and DVD marathons are infinitely more amusing!
But even when you're riding the high of that FO, your fingers are still twitching. So what is there to calm those restless digits of yours?
It's the skinny scarf to the rescue!
The scarf is that ubiquitous oomph!accessory, a completely versatile, go-with-everything piece (like in Paris, for example, where you can't walk 10 paces without bumping into someone wearing one). Some are formal, some are casual, and some are a quirky in-between, like the skinny scarf in multi-coloured stripes -- stripes which, if you believe the fashion press, are very 'now'. I'll go out on a limb here and say that stripes, particularly in skinny scarves, are very 'always'. Simple, classic, sporty and fun. And a great chance to play with colour.
Here are two in Mont Blanc (100% cashmere):

Pattern? What pattern? Pick a few colourways of your liking, cast on in a simple rib and change colours as your whimsy dictates, and watch the magic unfold.
